5 Real-World Solutions to Lose Weight

Posted on 06 August 2008 by admin

You want to drop big weight? Forget about it. No, really - that's the crucial tip. Put the end goal out of the picture and narrow your focus to the day at hand. Bob Harper, a trainer on the NBC TV show The Biggest Loser, says, "Ask yourself, did I get my workout in today? Did I make the right food choices? Then go through it again tomorrow, always with an eye on improving."

Here are Harper's top five real-world solutions. Becoming fat is a piece of cake. Slimming down is not.

#1.
Get over gym-timidation.

The muscleheads at the squat rack aren't judging you. "If they see someone out of shape trying their hardest to change, they'll do what they can to help you," says Harper. So ask for a spot, or even some guidance. Just because those guys are ripped doesn't mean they don't struggle with diets and exercise plans.

#2.
Fight through the pain.

Your neglected body won't be able to do what it once could. Start slowly and remember that post-exercise soreness means you're making progress. Use this as motivation to put the past into your present. "You'll see just how far you've let yourself go, but you'll know what you're eventually capable of," Harper says. Continue Reading

It's pretty clear, us guys get away with a ton of crap. We can sit on a couch, sans t-shirt, drinking a beer, yelling incessantly at a football game, and it's considered "normal." We can usually walk up to a tree, drop trough, and urinate without a second notice. But, there are definitely things we as men should avoid. Here 19 things all men should put on their "To-Don't" list.

#1. Check your BlackBerry in bed.
To a woman, that's like having a threesome with your boss.

#2. Ask for a kiss.
Her eyes will say yes or no, and nothing kills the mood like asking for a translation.

#3. Wear low-rise jeans.
So what if David Beckham flashes his hash in every other men's magazine? It's important to have some sack, not show it. Continue Reading

Top 5 Interview Questions and the Answers You Need to Know

Posted on 04 August 2008 by admin

stock.xchng - interview (stock photo by Mart1n)

How do you make yourself standout in an interview? How do you make sure you're presenting your experience and qualifications in a way that you are the candidate the company chooses? Interviews are not fun, but there seem to be stock questions asked in every one of them. Here are the top 5 answers, according to Interview Answers in a Flash, that should help you nail your next interview.

Q1. Tell me about yourself

This is a tough question to answer because you don't know for sure what the interviewer is seeking. In general, however, interviewers ask this question for two reasons: 1. to learn more about you and what you consider important than will be obvious from your resume, and 2. to see how well you are able to think on your feet. Don't simply provide your work and educational history.

Answer for small business: "I moved here about ten years ago and really have enjoyed living in this area. The hiking, skiing, and natural beauty are wonderful. I've been married for five years and have one child who is just starting to hike with my husband and me. We both want to instill a love of the outdoors in her early. Part of the reason I am interested in working for your company is my appreciation for the outdoors. Your company has supported all of the initiatives to create increased park land in our area over the last five years, and I want to work for a company like that."

Answer for a large corporation: "As you can see from my resume, I have a lot of experience helping customers solve problems. In my current position, I am responsible for working with approximately 150 families. As a result, I have become highly organized and complete my documentation of service directly after working with a customer. In my last review, I received the highest customer service rating in my group." Continue Reading

From toptenz (Thanks Shell!):

It’s amazing how much controversy a little doll, less than 12 inches in height, can generate. These days, the blonde beauty named Barbara Millicent Roberts, aka Barbie, is in the middle of a lawsuit. The controversy? Mattel claims Bratz, a line of dolls that has been stomping Barbie sales, was made by an employee at Mattel who had an exclusivity contract, and therefore, Mattel is entitled to some of the estimated $500 million to $2 billion in sales their rival is generating annually. Oh, well, Barbie has been to the moon, worked at McDonald’s been a fashion model and had countless babies. Bratz may come and go, but Barbie’s been around nearly 50 years and she can handle anything.
