It's starting to feel a lot like Christmas, so it's time for the TV networks to air their heart-warming holiday made-for-TV movies. You know the type, an orphan joins a swell family for the Yuletide season and sooner than you can say "chestnuts roasting on a open fire" the kid is adopted and gets a mangy mutt from the pound. Or some mysterious visitor appears and miraculously the dilapidated family farm is saved from a greedy mini-mall developer. But the most time-honored holiday theme is that of embittered family members who eventually put aside their long held hate-athons just in time for Christmas Eve. So behold this list of the top 10 TV Movies with estranged relatives who find the true meaning of Christmas. HO HO HO!
Listropolis' Take:
We don't really have a take on this one....it's just an interesting list.

Huge news that, if true, could produce a film that either rejuvenates one of the best comedy franchises in movie history, or could destroy the film industry forever. Yes, I'm talking about the fact that New Line/Warner Bros. have signed Wedding Crashers director David Dobkin to produce and possibly direct a National Lampoon's Vacation sequel.
Now, I'm someone who doesn't even consider Vegas Vacation a part of the franchise. It's why I've enjoyed referring to the Griswold's misadventures over the years as, "The Vacation Trilogy." After all, "Trilogy" has a nice ring to it and aside from Rusty's Mr. Papageorgio subplot and the casting of Marisol Nichols as daughter Audrey Griswold… Vegas Vacation was about as much fun as arriving at Wally World only to find out it's closed for remodeling.
And the rumor is that the next installment will actually focus not on Clark & Ellen, but on son Rusty and his new family. Chevy Chase may only have a bit part in the film, if that. And so, this led us to curate the following list of classic Clark Griswold clips. At the very least, they'll remind us of what's made the National Lampoon's Vacation series so everlasting. At the most, New Line/Warner Bros. and Mr. Dobkin will stumble across this page, tear up from laughter, realize what they're about to embark on and then either make a kickass Griswold family vacation for a new generation… or scrap the whole idea altogether.
Listropolis' Take:
Considering these are my all-time favorite movies, I LOVE this post. If you are a fan of the Vacation franchise, you'll probably end up bookmarking this and coming back to it often.

6 Geekiest South By Southwest Films
Posted on 03 March 2009 by admin
From Popular Mechanics:
There's one time of year when it is impossible to get a hotel room in Austin, Texas: South By Southwest, the gargantuan showcase for emerging technology, music, and film. While the festival's music hogs most of the headlines, its film festival (which runs this year March 13–21) has quickly carved out a place for itself as one of the premiere places in the U.S. to debut a new film. This year's Sundance Film Festival took a noticeable turn towards the sci-fi, while the lion's share of SXSW's science and technology-related movies this year are documentaries. Here are the six films at this year's festival that are most likely to pique the interest of sci-tech geeks.
Listropolis' Take
I've never been to SXSW, but I'd love to go. After reading about these movies, I'm pretty sure I'd avoid everyone of them...but the post is interesting.

From Movie Moron:
What makes celebrity deaths particularly eerie and poignant is that often their final work only comes to light after they have gone. In the case of movie stars, it’s their last film that’s released months after they are buried/cremated/blasted into space. Cinema provides a form of immortality, and watching these farewell movies really is like seeing a ghost on screen.
Heath Ledger and Bernie Mac were not the first. Here are Movie-Moron’s top ten actors who didn’t live to see their final movie, based on a scale of plain old bad luck.

From Geeks of Doom:
An eternity of films has come to our eyes over the years. Together they’ve formed the foundations by which good movies are built, given us our most cherished filmmakers and performers, inspired generations to dream, and even just allowed people to simply escape to another world if but only for a couple of hours.
But what if some of the most celebrated movies in cinematic history were different? What if your favorite film of all time’s main star was played by someone else? How different would everything be if just one legend never even came to be legend? These are the questions I found myself asking while bored and on an e-adventure one day; I was surprised at just how many massive characters were almost played by other actors.

Top 10 Alternate Casting Calls In Batman
Posted on 15 July 2008 by admin
From Movie Moron:
In honor of The Dark Knight opening this week, it is a time to look back at some of the characters in the Batman films and wonder, just what if these casting calls were different. Please keep in mind that these casting choices are purely fantasy and are not indicative of any actual possibilities. The movie studios just lack the awesome to see the great potential certain actors have for these roles.

From Cracked:
We don't ask a lot from our movies. A nice story, maybe with some sex, violence and Batman thrown in.
But sometimes a movie comes along and takes on special meaning because it's based on a true story, and so we watch with rapt attention knowing that some real dude lived through all the awesomeness on screen. But if you're going to go with the "Based On A True Story" tag, all we ask is that you make the stories sort of, you know, true. You can do that, right?
Not if these movies are any indication.

From the Site:
This list compiles movie with men doing manly things like crushing skulls, pillaging cities, slaying beasts, conquering women and saving the world. We took a look at manly movies a bit differently than some other people out there and awarded man-points to movies with sex scenes, bloody action and intellectual prowess. Some determining factors that could lower a movie are excessive man parts on camera, cheesy storylines, sappy romance and lack of female nudity. Together this list features the 64 of the manliest movies ever produced.
